The lost thing is a combination of two unwanted elements. The first being a discarded popcorn bucket, thrown away after fulfiling its use and turned into rubbish. The second unwanted element is a Spider. No one wants a spider around. Together they have combined to make a Lost Thing. A popcorn bucket is usually associated with positive thoughts and memories which is contridicted by the spider which is usally associated with scary thoughts.
